A PRISONER'S SUICIDE.

Committed for Murder. SYDNEY, March 30. Alfred Kirk, while awaiting trial at Broken Hill for the murder of his wife and shooting tat John Hocking with intent, hanged himself in his cell to-night with the aid of a blanket. Kirk left a note stating that he had tried to bleed himself to death, but had failed There was a slight -wound on the arm.

[On February IS Kirk, on entering the-sitting-room of his house, found Hocking with his wife, and fired at him, causing a serious wound. Mrs. Kirk fled to the bedroom, but Kirk broke down the door with an axe and shot twice at his wife, who cowered beneath the bed. The woman was afterwards found dead, aud her husband, who ran away after the deed, was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.]
