The creiv of the Xiinrod, it is stated, have been anything but contented since Captain England resigned his position, and it is rumoured that several of the men who accompanied him to the Antarctic regions intended to resign also. Mr. Davis, chief officer, when questioned on the subject, stated that he knew nothing concerning the matter. Two members of the engineroom stalT would probably be leaving the vessel, but he was unaware that a similar movement wa.s to be made by any of the others. lie pointed out, however, that if any member of the crew desired to be paid off the authorities would accede to the request. The men during the time the vessel is lying at Lyttolton are receiving full wages. A member of the crew stated that he intended to apply for his discharge, and two others said that if Captain England did not resume command and take the Nimrod south they would not remain with tne vessel.
