Mr. Charles Macmahon cables from Sydney that an entirely new series of living pictures, ordered from Europe by Messrs. Macmahon, are now on their way to Auckland, and will arrive here on Monday next. The Company's Auckland season will be inaugurated at His Majesty's Theatre on Monday night, when tne management promises theatre-goers a treat of unusual excellence. In association, the favourite young New Zealand contralto, Miss Lorraine Tansley, will contribute a number of illustrated ballads. A special tariff has been arranged for ladies and children. The box plans open to-morrow morning at Wildman and Arey's.
The Auckland United Fire Brigades' Association, intend on Saturday next, March 21, to carry out the balance of the programme of events in connection with the Fire Demonstration that was held in Victoria Park on February 29 th last. Owing to the number of events taking longer to run off on that date than was expected,.several were left over for completion at a future date, and the Association has fixed on next Saturday, at Victoria Park, as the date, when there will be no charge made for admission to the public.
His Excellency the Governor returns from the Waikato to-night. Lady Plunket, the Hon. Kathleen Plunket. and Capt. Lyon, A.D.C., arrived from the South by the s.s. Rarawa to-day.
