ILLEGAL SALE OF LIQUOR.
CEy Telegraph. —Own Correspondent.; KAWAKAWA, this day. Arthur Fussell was charged in the Police Court with having soid liquor without a license in a booth here on race day, January 20, and was lined £5 and costs £4. The peculiarity or the case was that the racing club h;;d advertised, as usual, the sale of the right of the publican's booth, guaranteeing the loan of a permit. Fussell, being the successful tenderer, obtained the licensee's permission, and sold liquors accordingly. He pleaded guilty to tho charge, bot uT<T«>i thajt he had permission and hats acted in good faith according to tho pniotice prevailing in former years in disposing of the publican's booth for tho benefit of the club.
