MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The regular meeting of Mount Eden Borough Council w__s held last night. The Mayor (Or. O. Nicholson) presided, and there were also present Councillors C. J. Tanks, J. Davis, S. C. Burns, W. Woollev, R- H. Crudge, C. Hudson, T. S. Jacka, E. Potter. R. Ross, W. Warnock, and A. Yates.
Road Encroachment.—The committee recommended that, in connection with the encroachment of Mrs Robins' building, the fence be carried from Batger's new wall to the corner post of Mrs Robins" propeitv on Oaklands-road. The cost of removing the building, it was recommended, should he borne by the Council, such sum to be considered as payment to Mrs Robins for the land taken by the Council. The Mayor also reported that he had made arrangements with Mrs Watts and Mr Watkinson to take the encroachment on the corner PPPQSite Edendale-road by paying each £10. This, the Mayor said, would hare the effect of making a very line corner. The Mayor's action, and the recommendation of the subcommittee, was approvedFinance.—The Mayor, in stating the flnineial position, said the Council had every •Sf *° cons 'der the statement satisfactory. JJe total collected for the month was Sjffl 0/JB, and the various accounts were iv Jjedit as follows:—General account, £232 IS/73; water account. £71 7/10: trust account, £237 6/2-, making a total credit of £541 12/ S.
Water Consumption.—The Clerk of "Works Reported that the consumption of water *°£tl"'ee months ending March 16th was 2,809,000 gallons, at a cost of £152 3/9.
