THREE BOYS MISSING.

SEARCH PARTY OUT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WATRT. this day. Word was received late yesterday afternoon, that three Waihi boys, George Cathey, (16), Willie Lane (16), and Jac* Saunders (14), had been swept out to sea from Bowentown Heads on Sunday. Cathey and Saunders, who are telegraph messengers, and Lane a store assistant, did not appear at work on Monday, and up to the present there is no trace of them. Much anxiety is felt by the boys' friends. The boys had expressed their intention of going away for a few days* visiting the beach and Paeroa races. They left on horseback for the beach on Saturday night, and were seen in a boat on Sunday morning in Bowentown harbour. The fathers of the boys proceeded to ; the beach last night, but could discover no trace of either/the boat, the boys, or the horses. Search will be made of Matakana Island, near the" Heads to-day. It is stated that the boys were not seen at the Paeroa races yesterday. liATER. ! HOPE FOR THE BOYS. NOT SWEPT OUT TO SEA. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) W__EHI, this day. Further investigations at Bowentown Heads have gone to show that the statement made by Maoris that the boat containing the missing boys was swept out to sea is without foundation, and that circumstances point to the conclusion that the boys are on Matakana Island. Search parties are out in that direction.
