PAEROA GOLD EXTRACTION CO. TO WORK THE RIVER TAILINGS. £16,000 TO BE EXPENDED. (By Telegraph.—Otto Correspondent.) WATHI, Thursday. Mr. W. M. Jackson, in making an application to the Borough Council on behalf of the Waihi-Paeroa Gold Extraction Company, Limited, for permission to make a road through the abattoir reserve at Waihi, foT the purpose of carting machinery to the river tailings plant, stated that a company had been formed to work the claims, and a sum of £16,000 was to be provided as working capital, and of this sum it was proposed to spend £8000 on the Waihi properties, in new plant, and reorganising the mill and general works. He was instructed to give th» Council a definite assurance that this amount was forthcoming, and that £4000 was already in the bank. He asked that the application be granted, arid pointed out tbe immense benefits such an undertaking would be to Waihi. The Council decided to grant the appucation, and to subsidise the construction of the road up to £50. VICTORIA The manager of the Victoria Gold Mining Company reports that the crushing of 21 loads of ore and 901bs. of picked stone yielded bullion worth about £360. HAURAKI FREEHOLD. (By Telegrapn.—Own Correspondent.) OOROMANDEL, this day. Messrs. Hunter and Party, tributers in the Bauraki Freehold mines, have treated 17 tons of general ore and 121bs. of picked stone, for a yield of 95 oz. 4 dwts. of retorted gold, valued, at about £270.
