OVERCROWDED RUSSIAN PRISONS.

ST. PETERSBURG, October 24. There are at present 6000 prisoners in fa St. Petersburg prisons and houses of detention, and of this number 1512 are iuiemed in the latter, though they are mly intended to hold 380.
