HAMILTON NOTES.
HAMILTON, this day. Mr E. J. Stewart, late of the firm of Messrs. Russell and Campbell, fia3 entered into partnership with Mr L. O'Neill, the solicitor, whose health, lately has been very- indifferent. The Mayor of Hamilton submitted; a report at the last night's meeting of the Council on the vital statistics of the town. He said that for. the last five years the average death rate had been 18 par annum, or 9 per 1000 of the population. The deaths from typhoid! fever ia the borough population were five during that period, averaging one per annum. An examination of those case's led" to the conclusion that the victims were•-•• not o! strong constitution, andi-coneequentlyj were susceptible to afcttfek. When'the drainage scheme was complete the niflk supply would' be brought under supervision. He looked forward' to = reducing the present low death rate and- the town ranking as one of the healthiest towns in 2Jew Zealand.
