Gal_man, general secretary of the executive of the New Zealand Liberal and Labour Federation, is-leaving on his return to Wellington by the Rarawa to-morrow. ..... V A -wireless message dispatched- by Mr H. E. Partridges, of Auckland, on the voyage between New York and Havana was received by a friend in Auckland this morning.-. It bore the words "Kia Ora." .... Mr and Mrs Peter Tunlbull. who have left Whitford for Sylvia Park, were entertained at a social .on Thursday evening, and presented with a beautifullyframed and engrossed address, and-a silver tea and coffee service from the settlers. The members of the local cricket club also presented Mr Turnbull with a hunting crop as a token of their esteem. A Press Association telegram from Napier states that Mr E. P. A. Platf ord, who was for many years accountant, for Wilson and Cotterill, solicitors, and latterly was in businesss as a land agent and sharebroker, died yesterday after a lingering illness. He was secretary to the School Commissioners and various trusts, and was a memoer of the Bluff Eili "fowling Club and a prominent bowler. - •
