ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. ' A W.X.3JE.I, team, which visited Hamilton on Saturday last, played a match with a local eleven, and won by 5 goals to nil. The Hamilton team played well, but lacked combination. Bullock, in goal, both full-backs, and Mitchell played good games, while among the forwards are some promising players. WAIHI V. KARANGAHAKE. WAIHI, Saturday. This afternoon, on the Recreation Ground, in the presence of a. fair number of spectators, the Waihi and Karangahake reps, tried conclusions. Waihi (maroon) won tho toss and played with the sun and wind in their favour in the first spell. The maroons hart, the best of the play, and succeeded in scoring sis. points. Fix>rn a scrum, MrDermott (half) got the ball ■ away to Forster, to Clark, who scored in. a f.iir position. The kick at goal failed. The maroons kept up the pressure, and McDermott (who was playing a pood game) whipped th» Hall out, to Johnston, who after cutting in nicely, transferred to Morpeth, I who dashed over. The shot at goal was unsuccessful, and the spell ended Waihi sis, Karangahape nil. With the wind, in the second, half; Karangahake set to work and, from a loose rush, one of their forwards scored. Shortly after. Bramble picked up and whipped out to Gibbons. wh« ran over, scoring in a fair position. The kink at goal failed. With the scores even, some exciting play followed. Within a few minutes of the call of time ; O'Toole (Waihi) secured and passed to Forster, to Morpeth, to Johnstone, who in turn sent back 'to Forster, the latter being pushed out in the corner. From the lice-out, Morpetti secured, and passing to Forster, the latter scored between the posts. The kick at goal went wide, and the game ended Waihi 0, Karangahake 6. Mr Field acted as referee. The school match, resulted: Waihi 5 Karangahaie 0. Mataura I. defeated Waltete 111. by 10 too.
