NEWMARKET FIRE BRIGADE.

The twentieth annual meeting of the Newmarket Fire Brigade was held at the Hal!. Newmarket, on Tuesday "evening. There were present: —The Mayor iMr F. Bennett, in the chair). Crs. H. Kinder. R. Holmes, and G. F. Borgolto. ion. member Mr E. Blair. Captain D. J. Round, and Fireman K. Cook i Auckland Railway Fire Brigade). Foreman J. Smithson iGrey Lynn Fire Brigade), and a large nnrober of ex-firemen and friends. The secretary read the annual statement of srcr.unts. showing the receipts for the year to have been £70 16/. and the expenditure £61 fi/9, leaving a credit balance of £0 9.'". The election o£ officers resulted as follows:—Captain Mr .7. Porter (reelected): foreman. Mr J. Donaldson (reelectedi: secretary and treasurer. Mr T. F. Watts ire-?!ec:edV A social evening followed, light refreshments being provided. whilst the usual toasts were duly honoured. In t'le course of the evening the various warmly congratulated the brigade r.n the great ailvance it had miide in every way during toe past two years. The Mayer presented Branchmnn B. Colhnurne with a silver medal for five years' service., and Pioneer L. Randell and Branrbroen W. Simmons and F. T. Smith with three years' service certificates. Mus'oal items were contributed by Or.
