DAMAGES AWARDED.

GREYMOUTH, Wednesday.

The District Court resumed at 10 o'clock yesterday morning the hearing of a claim for £500 damages, by Catherine and Walter Scott against Hugh Cassidy, for injuries received in a coach accident on. the Otira-Christchurch-road. Evidence for the defence went to showthat the coach was perfectly sound and in good order, and the driver had exercised all care. Counsel addressed the jury at great length, and the judge's summing-up lasted over an hour. The jury retired at 7.30, and after an adjournment of three hours assessed the sum of £54 2/ as general damages, and £45 18/ as special damages.
