OTAHUHU ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Road Board was held on Thursday night. Mr F. Lippiart reported that a new road roller had been ordered. The new rate of Id in the £ was confirmed. A letter -was read from the Auckland Gas Co.. saving that it was hoped the company would start laying the pipes in a mouth or so. It was resolved to contribute up to £5 to the Association for the promotion for the Waitemata-Manutau canal scheme. The Sanitary Inspector reported thai the sanitary- arrangements at the public school were in "an unsatisfactory condition and needed reform, and the Board directed the inspector to take immediate steps to effect au improved t-iato of aff-irs. Yatnaki Bridge.—lt was reported that the stone work had fallen away, but there ! was no immediate danger. After a good ! deal of discussion it was thought advisable for the Board to inspect the Dridge at au i early date, and to take the necessary steps. Mr J. Hoye wailed on the Board, and asked if they woud take over the new road on his property, called Clevedon-road, as those who had receutly bought sections were waiting for titles, which could not be given till the road was taken over by the Board. The road was nearing completion, and Mr Hoye was prepared to deposit £110 as a guarantee that it would be completed according to the conditions required. It was decided that the Board should inspect the road. At a special meeting of the Board on Wednesday night, the tenders for filling in the gully and forming part of the pathway on the Station-road were opened, and there were five tenders for came, ranging from £165 to £210. Mr J. L-vines tender was accepted, lieins £165: the tender of Messrs Bates. Buruside and Co. to be held over till the contract was signed.
