NEW ZEALAND'S LESSON.
NEED FOR A REMEDY.

LONDON, July 11. In the debate on the Scottish Land Values Bill, Mr. Dewar (Liberal) stated that the taxation of land values had contributed to the prosperity of New Zealand.
The Lord Advocate (Mr. Shaw) admitted that changes in assessment and rating were in the Government's mind, though the proposal was not founded on Henry George's teaching, but based on the reports of Parliamentary Committees. They Tecognised that a remedy must be found, for injustices were now possible In municipal rating also a settlement must be reached before it would be possible to solve the housing question.
