OTAHUHU ITEMS.

OTAHUHU, Wednesday. MANUKAU METHODIST CHURCH. The quarterly meeting of the above church was beld at Otahuhu on Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. li. Taylor presided, and besides the circuit stewards (Messrs G. H. Docglhss and S. Atkinson) there were present representatives from Onehnnga, Otahuhu, Mangere, Woodside, and Manarewa. A motion of welcome to Mr Taylor was carried by acclamation, and Mr Taylor expressed his gratitude, saying he had 42 years' experience in the ministry, and hoped his stay in the circuit would be a happy one. The number of members on the roll was reported as 171, a sUght increase from last quarter. The balance-sheet, -which was adopted, showed a small debit balance of about £4. Reports -were received from the various endeavour societies in the cirit_dti and regret was xprssed that no report was to hand from the Sunday-school visitor. .. A mission committee was appointed from each, society meeting to increase the interest in both home and foreign missions. Th report of the committee -was received as to the advisability of employing a second man in the circuit, to be stationed at Otahuhu. After a good deal of discussion, it was resolved to obtain assistance as quickly as possible. The chairman, Messrs Atkinson, Douglass, and Davis were appointed to meet the committee of the Grafton-road Church to fix the boundaries of the two circuits. It was decided to hold the next quarterly meeting at Onehunga. . The members of the meeting were hospitaly entertained to tea through the kindness of . Mi- Hildren. The local preachers' meeting was held afterwards, over which the Rev. Taylor presided, and the usual business was gone through. MANGERE MUTUAL, IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY. The members of this society held their usual meeting on Monday in the Public Hall, when there was a fair attendance, the subject for the evening being "Magazine evening." The president, Mr C. w. Clark, presided, and the editor was Mr Hugh Mackenzie, who gave as a leading article the Important subject, of.
