THE RANFtTRLY SHIELD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Xew Zealand Rugby Union to-night, word was received from the Hawke's' Bay .Union that It had challenged Auckland to' plsy for the Ranfurly Shield. A telegram was received from the Buller Union that Auckland ' had accepted its challenge to play for the Shield on July 13. It was decided that If Auckland, which had not yet officially notified the New Zealand Union, was agreeable the match be approved. The Hawke's Bay Union will be acquainted with the arrangement being made between the Buller and Auckland Unions for the match. The "Auckland Rugby Union received the Hawke's Bay challenge by telegraph yesterday afternoon. TO-MORROWS MATCHES. The district championships will be continued to-morrow, when the second round of the district championships will be commenced, Ponsonby meeting Parnell in No. 1 ground at Alexandra Park and Newton meeting City on No. 2. and Grafton playing North Shore at Devonport. A meeting of the members of the Graftou District Football Clnb was held at the'club's training hall, Mount Eden, last evening. Mr D. .Clayton presided, and there was a good attendance. The chairman stated the meeting was called for tiie purpose of making an effort to put complete teams in the held every,• Saturday, and to do this it was necessary for all present lo have the welfare of the club at heart, and induce as many young fellows as possible to attend the practices and play every Saturday.
