NORTHCOTE SCHOOL SPORTS.
The annual sports in connection with the Northcote Public School were held on Saturday afternoon in Mr J. Clow's paddock at Northcote. A large number of the parents and friends of the scholars were'present. The sub-committee, consisting of Messrs J. McPhail, P. Donahoe, J. McGuiness, R, D. Taylor, J. Mackay, and the headmaster (Mr Alf. Taylor), were zealous in their efforts to promote success. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to the ladies who assisted at the dispensing of refreshments, Mr Clow for the use of nis paddock, and also to the committee. The sports resulted as follows:—
Girls, 50 yards, aged 5 and 6: V. McPhail 1, J. Heath 2. J. Mackay 3. 50 yards, ages 7 and S: K. Boyd 1, M. Butler 2. R. Sharp 3. 50 yards. 9 and 10: N. Hand 1, N. Sharp 2. M. Woolley 3. 50 yards, 10 and 12; F. Hubble 1, P. Clark 2, A. Maxwell 3. 75 yards, 13 and over: E. Heath 1, C. Spurllng 2, K. Hand 3. 75 yards skipping race: M. Muthern 1.
Boys.—so yards, 5 and 0: P. Dunn 1. E. Purdy 2, V. Hayraan 3.. 50 yards, 7 and S: B. Xicholson 1, Hayman 2. McLean 3. 100 yards, 11 and 12: R. Thompson 1, Francis 2, Taylor 3. 100 yards, 13 and over: A, Parrish 1. High Jump: W. Satchell 1, C. Francis 2. J. Shortridge 3. 300 yards special, for trophy presented by Mr E. G. Skeates: Won by C Francis.
