THE FRISCO MAIL.
The E.M.S. Sierra arrived from San Francisco via island ports at noon to-day. The voyage vras a protracted one and occupied about twenty-one and a half days, thie delay being due to an accident to the machinery. The Sierra left San Francisco at 1.10 a.m. on February 8, some twelve hours late, and reached Honolulu on February 14, having neither gained nor lost any time on the passage. She resumed her voyage at 1.20 p.m. the same day for Pago Pago, but two new pumps, which were fitted at 'Frisco, gave out, and as the boilers then started priming, the speed had to be reduced, and the vessel did not arrive at the Samoan port until the 22nd ult. She remained at Pago Pago until the afternoon of the 24th, during which time the pumps were repaired. The Sierra made a very fair passage between the two ports, her steaming time being 4 days 11 hours. Before leaving the ship the passengers presented an address to the chief engineer (Mr. J. Mclntosh), expressing their appreciation of the manner in which he had brought the boat along under unfortunate circumstances. A sum of money was also subscribed with which to buy him a suitable present. The Sierra sails for Sydney on completion of her discharge. ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUSPENSION.
