"SPONTANEOUS" COMBUSTION OF WOOL.
LONDON, June 16. Owing to the evidence showing that the fire on the Pitcaira Inland was due to spontaneous combustion of wool, the inqtnrj at Valparaiso exonerated the capof the vessel. It is surmised in London that the fire was due co chemical constituents of the sheep dip. and that this oay be a frequent cause of so-called spontaneous combustion in wool cargoes.
