A STEAMER ASHORE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association) BLENHEEV?, this day. The eteamer Waihi, 63 tons, Captain Backstrom, went ashore a few nights ago when trying to cross the Wairau bar. She now lies well up on a gravel beach, clear of water at low tide. She is owned by the Union S.S. Company. There is no insurance on the vessel. It is expected she will be refloated in three days. An inquiry is to be held.
