~■ . ' SALE OF WORK AT EDEN TERRACE.

A sale of work at Eden Terrace Primitive Methodist Church in aid of a fund to erect a parsonage was opened yesterday afternoon by Mr 3. H. Garrett, chairman of the Eden Terrace Road Board. There was a good attendance, which was even better in the evening, and the attractively worked articles for use and ornament met with an excellent- sale: The' principal stall was arranged .to represent the good ship Kia Ora, the lines of a vessel being well suggested. On board was a varied display of fancy needlework, executed In a manner' reflect- ' ing credit upon the ladles of the congregation who produced It A well stocked stall of children's pinafores and similar articles,' a toy display, Irult and'produce stall,' and a pleasant tea-room were also, features ot Interest. COURT 3SIL DESPBRANDDM OF FORESTERS.

The 26th anniversary of Court Nil Desperandum, No. 6495, Auckland f»-r?or of Foresters, was celebrated last night by a social gathering In the Foresters' Hall, Karanga-bape-road. Bro. F. IS. Banhie, ii.id.X., occupied the chair, and a most enjoyable programme was contributed to by Sister Simmonds, Mr Dudley, Bros. F. B. Baume, ! Pryor, FuUJames, Lanlgan, Hawken, and others; while Bro. Lanlgan acted as accompanist. Bra Alex. Lowrie, C.R., presided at the business meeting held prior to the social, when there was a large attendance" of members and representatives from the sister courts. District officers A. B. Green-1 elade, D.S.C.K., D. J. Wright, D.S., Jaa. Stichbury, D.T., and R. Kent, D.8., were also present in their official capacity. On j behalf of the Auckland Provincial District, I Bro. D. J. Wright, district secretary, presented Bro. W. L. Rowland (who retired j from the position of district chief ranger recently) With the souvenirs of office voted by the delegates at tho January district, meeting, including a P.D.C.K.'s jewel, neckribbon, and framed certificate, in recognition or the able manner In which he had fulfilled the, duties of the office. Complimentary references were made-to the good work done by Bro. Rowland on behalf of the Order. Bro. Rowland replied, thanking the brethren for the manner in which they had shown their appreciation of his efforts. WATTEMATA LODGE DRUIDS.

The fortnightly meeting of the Waitemata Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held in the "lodgeroom, Pompallier-terrace, : Ponsonby, - last evening, the Arch Druid (Bro. Gannon) presiding. A large number of members were in attendance, and several candidates were Initiated. The election to fill the vice-Arch Druid's chair, rendered vacant by the rer moval of Bro. W. Ross to Dunedin, was proceeded with, and after a. spirited contest Bro. S. D. Hanna was duly, elected. Eight candidates were proposed for membership, and after routine business had been disposed of the rest of the evening was spent in a social manner, musical Items being ren- : dered by Bros. Rule, 8. A well attended and enjoyable entertainment was held last night in the Oddfellows' Hall, Parnell, for the purpose of raising funds In aid of the new Sundayschool In course of erection for Knox Church. The pastor,.the Rev. -J. B. Russell; presided, and during the evening addresses were delivered by him and the Rev. A. Macatilay Caldwell. The musical part of the programme Included the'following Items:—Pianoforte selection. Mtes A. Chambers; song, "Claude Duvat," Mr P.
