THE 'FRISCO MAIL.

» I VENTURA DELAYED. HEAVY WEATHER OX THE COAST. The mail-steamer Ventura, which was due from Sydney early this morning, had not put in an appearance up to three o'clock this afternoon. The I steamer has evidently met with heavy •weather crossing the Tasman Sea, as she did -not reportr at Cape Mi\ria Van t>iemen yesterday afternoon. It is prohahle, however, that the Ventura passed the northern headland during the night, when, ovfing to the thick .weather she Tvoulrl not be observed by the lightKeeper. The s.s. Clansman from Russell was some five hours late in arriving at Auckland this morning, having been delayed by a strong gale and high head seas. Heavy rain also fell, and the night was very dark. The mailst earner being a large boat would have to stand well out to sea in such weather, and as the sea is still rough and the ■weather thick, she is probably coming along at a very slow speed, and as her master .would not approach the land until the weather began to clear, her nonarrival up to a late hour this afternoon should not cause uneasiness. The Ventura is announced to sail for the islands and 'Frisco at 6 p.m. to-day, but it . will probably be later.
