THE VETERANS AND THE WEDDING GIFT.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I am sorry that the good doctor who belongs to our association, and whose name is on the Imperial roll of honour, should have made public our intention to try and show somewhat our appreciation of Lord and Lady Kanfurly's kindness to us by sending Home a small present to remind the young lady that we do not forget kindness. 1 remember when she stood at the draw-ing-room door at Government House on our first invitation, with a bright, real, hearty greeting to every one of us poor old fellows, and a shake of our rough old hands, that our fingers feel the tingle of pleasure yet. The subscription required is very small, and I hope all old veterans who love real kindness will find the silver coin, even fVom the despised though sacred threepenny upwards. —I am, etc., E. B. CRAVEN, Bluejacket late the old Niger.
