THE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.

SECOND DAY. Yesterday afternoon the second round of the New Zealand Amateur Golf Championship was played on the Maungakiekie links, under rather better cont'it.ons than in the morning. Mr A. H. Fisher (present champion). Mr K. Tareha (exehajnpion) and Mr J. C. Burns (Auckland champion) won their matches and got into The third round, which was being played this afternoon. There were close finishes between Messrs A. Duncan and Bid well, ami Messrs K. Duncan and Heather. In the former match the score was all square at the 17th hole, and Duncan won the match one up; and K. Diini-an in the lalf.-r got the match with his last stroke. In the fourth round Gould played A. Duncan played Harold, Tareha played K. Duncan, and Fisher played Gordon, but the result* were not available when we went to press. This morniiijr Hip match against the redoubtable Colonel Bogoy was played, and most of the players failed to master the arch enemy.
