COMMONWEALTH AND OLD AGE PENSIONS.

MELBOUENE, this day.
At a meeting of the Commonwealth Old Age Pensions Commission Mr. Coglan's report was read. He estimated the cost on the New South Wales basis of an 8/ weekly pension would be £1.630,----000 He suggested that a2d tax on weekly wages would provide £428,000 to supplement .the £800,000 from the tea and kerosene taxes, suggested by Sir William Turner, to meet the expenses of the iyetem.
