THE GOLDFIELDS.
MINE MANAGERS" REPORTS. New Four-in-Hand.—The new low Wei has been driven five feet for the week. Prom No. 5 stope south and No. 3 stops north Gib of picked stone have been secured, and a few colours of gold left showing iv the face. In the rise no gold has been seen, but the quartz looks like making gold at any time. The rise Is up a total distance of 21 feet, leaving about 17 feet to break through to the intermediate level. The continued dry weather stil! prevents the battery from belnp worked. Kurnnui Intermediate Level.—This levpl is now repaired, nnd a start made to drive on the Shotover reef, Aietr consulting with Messrs Frater and McCullough to-day, it was deemed advisable to employ all hands at present on this level, in order to get out a f6ir quantity of quartz so as to have it treated as soon as possible. Drive going south of shaft: This drive is now in 36ft, which leaves about 45rt more to get in a line with the end of the battery leved tunnel. I am strongly of opinion that the lode will be picked up in this drive which can be continued later on. Fair progress has been made with relaying the tram road in the Point Russell level; we are now in to what is known as the timber winze, other 350 ft will brin.z us up to the point where it is intended to commence operations on the cross reef, but there is a good deal of fallen mullock to remove; however, I think we will hove this work completed by the end of this week. 'TaHjsiaau OonsWlidated.—The- following cable was forwarded to Talisman C'onso'idatcd, Limited, London, on the 13th inst: —"No. 8 level south, 1167 ft: No. 11 level. 473 ft; average value of assays, 11/; shaif is down 232 ft.
