OSEHUNGA MUSICAL SOCIETY. The adjourned meeting of the Onehunga Musical Society was held in the Foresters Hall last Thursday. Canon Haselden. V.F.. presiding. There was a large attendance of members. The Chairman said that at their annual meeting three weeks atio there seemed to bo a prospect of terminating the society owing to apathy on the part of tne townspeople, and v committee had been appointed to submit a report that evening. He was pleased to be able to inform the meeting that the committee's inquiries nau resulted satisfactorily. Nine .new performin" members and eight honorary members had become enrolled, and the prospects for the ensuing season were good. It was then resolved unanimously that the society continue. The following ofßcers were elected- —president. Canon Haselden; vice-pre-sidents. Captain Richardson, Messrs Winter and J. E. Kelsall: secretary and treasurer Mr Walter Richardson; conductor, Mr E J. Gatl-and. The Chairman announced that Mr E. J. Gatland had performed, in addition to conductor, the duties of secretary and treasurer for several years, bnt this year lie specially desired to be relieved of the latter duties. General regret was expressed at the decision, and a unanimous vote of thanks to Mr Gatland for past services was carried by aeclanvation. The general practices will be resume.! and the usual winter entertainment provided by the society. EPSOM ROAD BOARD. The following gentlemen were present flt the monthly meeting of the ißpsom Btvavi ' Board on Tuesday:—Messrs W. Reno. I Bloomfield (chaiimnn). J. EMgerley, T. I Grainser, and A. McDonald. A plan of a i proposed new road was submitted by Mr I Sanford. and referred to the Board's engi- ! neer. The deed of dedication of Cecil-ro-ad. i forwarded for execution by the Board, was ! duly signed. With respect to cattle wandering on the roads in the vicinity of the I prison reserve, Mr Sevprne wrote stating '• that, a largre portion of the reserve was i letsed to the City Council for stone crushing, and the same body used the anfenced portion for the purpose of stone breaking by old men. This being the case he was unable to heJp the Board In the matter. It was decided that the City Council be asfcad to 'fence or giro the Board permission

to impound ail cattle wandering thereon. Attention was called to the state of the road between the Miserieordiae Hospital and the Great Northern Brewery, and also to the fact that a definite name should lie fixed, as it was now known variously as .Aitken's, Seecombe's, Firth's, or Mountain load, it was resolved that the matters receive the earliest possible attention.
