LONDON, January 19

The eaet route Scotch express, running on the Great Northern railway, collided yesterday with an ordinary train at Cudworth, in Yorkshire. As the express wee travelling at a high rate of speed, the impact was terrifying. Seven persons were killed: outright and forty were injured, a number seriously. (Received 8.30 ajn.) LONDON, January 19. There was a fog at the time of the dieaster. The Glasgow express was on the upjourney, and was following the Leeds express towards London. The Glasgow train was travelling the more quickly, with the consequence that the former dashed into the rear of the latter, completely wrecking it. A third exprese from London dashed into the wreckage, and was derailed. After the collision the Glasgow express took fire, and the rescue work became of an exciting character. Among the passengers was the wellknown artist, Mr. Robert Brough, A.R.S.A., who received severe burna about the body.

The accident originated in the Leeds express becoming derailed.
