OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA. tins day. Tiie monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held yesterday, wnen the following business was transacted. Tenders were accepted as follow: —Cleaning out and improving the main drain, Paeroa, C. Olsen. £83: forming and ditchIng 8 chains Mill-road, P. Sheehan, £23; supply and delivery of 590 cubic yards of gravel on Maugaiti-road, J. Cochrane, £142.11/: forming footpath between uwharoa and Waitomo, W. C. Kennedy, £38 4/; supply and delivery of 300 cubic yards of metal on Paeroa-Te Aroha-road. John Goonan, £S9; memlliug IT :hains Waite■kauri Jubilee-road. E. Bain. £100. Komata .North-road.—The engineer estimated the cost of this work tt £160, towards which the settlers have agreed to contribute £50. It was resolved to expend £125 on the work. Waterman's-road. Waikino.—lt was resolved to call tenders for this work at nest meeting. Ambulance. —Mr Kitching, chairman of the Kurnngahake Ambulance Committee, asked the Council for a shed for the ambulance now being built by Messrs Cousins and. Cousins. Mr Crosby saitl he would build a compartment iv his stables in the centre of the town for its use provided Mr Short, who had a lease of th" stables, consented. The Council decided to accept Mr Crosby's offer. Government Grants. —The Public Works Department wrote asking If. In the event of £54 subsidy for the Komata Swamp drain being authorised, the Council were prepared to proceed with the work. It was resolved to ask the Department to strike the Item out as it was not required. the work being already r'.oae. This is the only grant given to tin* Council this yonr by the Public Works Department.
