A QUESTION OF INSURANCE.

NELSON, this day.
There v considerable speculation as to whether the insurance companies concerned will proceed against the contractor for painting Nelson College because his foreman used a flare in burning off, to which is attributed the recent fixe. Business circles feel strongly that the contractor was innocent, as owing to him solely the clause prohibiting the use of the flare was inserted in the contract. A point hag arisen as to whether insurance companies accepting risks are justified in sheeting home to employers unavoidable defaults of workmen on building jobs. The matter is now under the consideration of the Underwriters' Association, and locally the inexpediency of legal proceedings in view of the competition of the State fire insurance insisted on.
