SELLING DISEASED CATTLE.
a ■ (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. Peter Hansen, a settler at Hukerenui, was charged at tlie S.M. Court to-day by the Stock Department with not obeying an instruction to keep a heifer offered for sale at Kamo saleyards, as she showed symptoms of tuberculosis. Accused pleaded guilty to selling the beast. The Bench pointed out that the maximum penalty was fifty pounds, but this being the first case of the kind in the district, and a heavy penalty not being asked for, he inflicted a fine of £5 and costs.
