The ' proceeds will be divided equally between the three churches here. An orchestra of nine art.i.stes opened with the overture '"Lasfcpiel," finely' rendered and much appreciated. Mr Sam Adams rendered four line compositions — "Gaite de Soir March,"' "New York Patrol," "The Watch Parade," and. "Tunnhauser." The other items were as follows: Violin solo, Mr Percy Johnson; 'cello solo, Mr Keith Roberts; trio (violin, 'cello and piano), P. Johnson, Hilda Johnson and Mr Sam Adams; song, Mr Reid, "Blue Bell," "The Skipper," and for encore "Sometimes"; 'cello sola, Miss Johnson; song, Mrs Reid; piano solo. Miss Ethel Martin; cornet solo, "Lost Chord," Mr Thomas Adams. This cncert was by far tlic best ever heard in Howick. Hearty thank's were returned to the artistes by the Rev. N. D. 803-es in a neat little speech, and also by Mr H. K. G-ilmour, who said the re-, sidents were truly grateful for the musical treat afforded by the ladies and gentlemen from Auckland, under the able management of Mr S. Adams. The National Anthem and "Auld Lang Syne" were sung feelingly by the audience, accompanied by the full orchestra, all being well pleased.
