VOLUNTEER NOTES.
'At the rifle rauge, Waiuku, on Thursday last, the annual tiriug for the Champion licit took place. The weather was good, but owing to harvesting commencing there was not a large muster. The pre-jent holder, Lieut. Makgill, at the last competition beat Lieut. Bent by three points: this year the order Is reversed, Li-ut. Bent beating Lieut. Makgill by 10 points. The ranges were 200. 300, 500, 600, and a until 700 yards, 10 shots at each. The following are the principal scores:— 200 300 500 COO 700 Tl Lieut. Bent 3S 40 40 35 33—181 Lieut.
