PREFERENTIAL TRADE.
Sir Horace Tozer Interviewed. ( Received 8 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Sir Horace Tozer, Queensland Agen£ (ieneral, has arrived en route to consult his Government with reference to their representation in London. On being interviewed he said that Mr. Chamberlain was making progress with his preference movement. Hitherto his cause had been the sport of the party, but thinking people were beginning to realise that it would be wisest to make the best use of the family connection. Mercantile and financial communities were now thinking seriously of the policy. If the elections took place now. said Sir Horace Tozer. the Liberals would have a majority, and preference would be delayed; but he did not think it would be a majority deliberately intended to cheek Mr. Chamberlain's movement, although he did not think that the Liberal electors or many of the Liberals of England were entirely in favour of considering the matter seriously.
