THE GROUNDING OF THE WAINUI.
(By Telegraph.— Press Association.) NELSON", Monday. The preliminary inquiry regarding the accident to the Wainui was held today, when the evidence of the captain, chief officer, chief engineer, and two seamen was taken. It is understood. an official inquiry will be held at Wellington. The Wainui tranships her passengers and cargo into the Mapourika tomorrow, and sails for Wellington, u to go on tbe slip. Some comment has been made regarding the time taken to get the passengers off the ship, there being about 100 in four boats and two rafts. The women were carried from the boats ashore. The Wainaii has a sligirt leak in her fore Lank.
