AN ODOROUS FIRE.
"Where are you going?'" inquired a lady as her husband started to leave his seat in the stalls directly the curtain fell on the first act. "I think there's a fire somewhere near, and I'm awfully fond of conflagrations, dear, as you know," he replied, confusedly. Ten minutee later he returned. "It wasn't a flre, after all," he said, briefly. "And it wasn't water," replied his wife, with a significant miff.
