THE NEWCASTLE STRIKE.
SYDNEY. January 15. Since the strike at Newcastle it is estimated the loss it has caused in coal and wages has been £40,000. The horses have been removed from Pelaw Main colliery, indicating a lengthened: stoppage. So far 31 summonses for breaches of the strike clause of the Arbitration Act have been issued. They are returnable for Wednesday, (Received 9.34 ajn.) SYDNEY, this day. The Hettoii colliery has come into line with the other proprietors, and has notified its miners of a reduction of wages. The Dudley wheelers have submitted a proposal for remaning work, which the directors are now considering. It is reported that some of the mines are importing coal-cutting machines.
