The best performance of the Auckland representatives was achieved by Carlton, who were the ruu-ners-np in the fours competition, the fiual of which excited so much interest that the green was lined by 400 or 500 people. The Aucklanders generally beat Gisborne on the short heads, bat were not so successful when the Gisborne players had the jack and gave lon gbeads.
