HOME BAT SAILING CLUB, The second series of class races for tbls season was sailed on Saturday afternoon ,n a splendid breeze Tie officials for the day were Messrs W. A. Reed, H. M_j_tre, and N. Hunter, who carried out. tbeir duties in a very careful manner. The following are the details of tho races:— Class I.—Entries and handicaps-: E_erald scratch. Okere im, Gladys to, Tiro 4m. All boats were sen), avvtiy well to*z«--ther. except Emerald, who was some minuter rate. This race provided some excitement, tbe boats al! bciuj- close at the finish. The result was as follows: Gladys, 4h 2Km IT-s: Emerald. -Hi 28m 20s: Chtere, 4h 28m 355; Tiro, 4h 2»ni ;J3s. On rime allowance Gladys is first, Tiro second, and Ofrere third. Class IL—Virtdiira scratch, Hetty 4m. AloCa 6m, Elslnore Bm. Esleen 10m. Elsinore did not start. Hetty and Eileen started late, the former giving np after completing half tbe course. Valdora and Alofa were sent away well together, Alofa leading round the ni«t mark, when the Valdora took the lead, which she maintained to the finish. The finishing times were: Valdora, _. 27m 45*; Alofa. 4h 38m 30s; Eileen, 4h 40m &>3- On time allowance Valdora tssres finjt place, Eileen second, and Alofa third. Ciass lll.—WaTeho scratch. Sweet "Nell 2m, Rambler 2Jm, £<*nntarin Om. Fouhtain was the only udn-st-arter. This was a well-, contested race right through, and resulted as follows: Wflrehn. 4b 27m 295; Sweet Nell, _r 2Sm 20s; Rambler, 4h 31m. On time allowance Sweet Nell Is first, Wareho second, and Rambler third. Class TV.—-Open Sailers. Kiatere. Anona and Stella scratch. Thelma, Allsa and Romeo lm. Veldt 2m, Whafea 4m, Reore 6m. The most exciting race of the day. The Wbaka capsized just before the race, her crew all being rescued. The finishing times were: Anona and Estelta, dead heat, i4h 55m; Ailsa. 4h 55m 30s; Thelma, 4h j 55m 355; Reore, 5h 4m 40s; Kiatere, ah 1 7m: Romeo, oh 7m 38s. Veldt did not j finish. On time allowance Ailsa is first, 1 Thelma second, Anona and Estella tie for j third.
