BATTLE TO LAST SOME DAYS,
ROADS DESPERATELY BAD. RUSSIANS WILL " CONQUER OR DIE." (Received 9.39 a.m.) LONDON, October 19. The newspaper Russ states that heavy rains fell on Monday, swelling the streams, and rendering the roads desperately had. The Russians have reoccupied Shaho station. General Knropathin has telegraphed the Czar that the Russians will conquer or die. The General Staff at St. Petersburg state that the Russians have only captured twelve guns. ! They expect that the battle which is new in progress will last till the end of the -week. General Knropathin has abandoned Mukden as his headquarter*, tad will remain with his troops. The Japanese attacks at Lonely Tree Hill on Monday night were repulsed. A Tokio telegram dated Wednes-' day states that owing to absence ©£ news it is believed that inactivity followed the abortive assaults , made by General Knropathin in order te cover his withdrawal to the Hmn River-
