THIS DAY. (Before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M.) Drunkenness: Four first offenders Were fined 5/ for drunkenness. A Football Enthusiast: James Downty was charged with using threatening behaviour opposite the Royal Hotel in Victoria-street last night. The constable said that the man was amongst the crowd which awaited the coming and passing of the English footballers outeide the hotel, and he was "looking for trouble." Hp energetically sought, it by erpiing fiercely, and ended by going up to a man and smiting him spveral timps. A constable then arrested him. The actWd strenuously denied the had behaviour, alleging that the man he struck, one Charles McGeehan, was a PWBonal friend, and the blows were friendly. Alleged Perjury: Thomas Kcenan w»s charged with committing perjury in the Magistrate's Court on August 12 by Wearing that on August 2 at Newmarket he placed a hortlp on the ground "ear or behind an iron fenrp.
