SUDDEN DEATH.
The officials of the Auckland branch of the Bank of New Zealand received a shock this morning, when they learned that one of their number, who appeared in good health at closing yesterday, had died suddenly this morning. The manager, Mr Buller, reecived a message by telephone early this morning, about 9 o'clock, that the accountant. Mr J. G. Scott, was very ill. He at once set off to see Mr Scott, but unfortunately was given the wrong address, and was therefore not in time to see his friend before death took place at about 9 30 o'clock. Aβ Mr Scott was only 47 years of age, his sudden death, from heart failure, in what should be the prime of a man's We naturally created great distress amongst his many friends, including those associated with him in the bank. Mr Scott was a native of England, Tfhere his wife and two children at preeent reside. He has been for 26 years in the service of the bank, and for about four years held the important position of accountant at Auckland. It is a somewhat singular coincidence that today is the anniversary of Mr Scott joining the bank over a quarter of a century ago. Deceased resided at "Fernleigh."
