INVITATION RECITAL. Last Friday evening, 19th August, the secoud Invitation leciLai was giveu by the ! pupils of Miss Amy Su-v?asou in the music ! rooms of the Knglisli and Foreign Piano I Agency. In spite of the luc.emeucy of the i weather the ball was crowded, over i>oo i friends being present. The orchestra. Miss i Violet Burden LtiUcr, aud Miss Eva Cum- j niT, accompanist, under the baton of Miss Stevenson, played several pieces excellently. ! Other items were: "Secoude Romance" j (Tours), Miss Rita Cargo; "Intelmezzo" | (Tours), Miss Kutb Steadman; "Elegie" i tKrnst), Mr B. Laseron; and "Andante from Sonato 2" (Beethoven), Miss Laveron, violiu ; solos. Miss Dorothy Nicol and Miss Steven- ' son played a violin duet, "Petite Sym- ', phony" (Dancla), which was deservedly encored; and Mr E. Meredith sang very taste- j fully "Hybreas, the Cretan," and (a) "The Hose," (b) "The River" (Johnson), for the latter of which he was encored. The feuture of the evening was a most sympathetic rendering of Wa.thew's "Gleaner's Slumber Song," by Miss Muriel Barr, who i also sang the "Slave Song" (Del Riego). | Miss Stevenson is to be cougratulated on the great success of the evening. REVIVAL SOCIAL CLUB. The above club held an enjoyable smoke concert in St. George's Hall on Monday evening. There was a good attendance of mexubers oud their frieuds. A capital and Interesting programme was submitted, a conspicuous feature of which was a cornet solo rendered In flue style by Mr Canigan. Other items were contributed by Messrs i Strlckett, C. Laing, Odean, Howell, Oreenhalgh, Llnkhorn, Connell, Coruish, Henderson, and A. Escott. The accompaniments were efficiently played by Mr A. Gracy. The hon. secretary, in responding to the toast of "The Club," mentioned that - the committee had secured larger and more j central club-rooms In Knrangahape road, ! where it Is hoped the club will make as good progress In the future as It had done In the past. Numerous toasts were honoured, and a very pleasant evening terminated shortly before midnight. Mr Linkhorn presided.

YOUNG MJfiN'S MOVEMENT. The Rev. J. C. Jnmleson delivered his second address In St. James's Hall last evening, his subject being "The Company of the Living Christ by His Spirit." The attendance was good, and included a large number of young men. The music was led by the Knox Church choir, and Miss Gllmoar rang "Calvary , ' in a pleasing manner. Mr Jnmleson speaks to-night at 7.45 in the same place. NRW ZEALAND ACCOUNTANTS' AND AUDITORS' ASSOCIATION (REGISTEBEDJ. The seventh of the 1904 series of lectures given under tne auspices of the New Zealand Acroifhtants' and Auditors' Association whs delivered at the Chamber of Commerce last evening, by Mr J. V. Sloman, 8.A., of the Auckland Grammar School, the subject being "Commercial Geography." In the absence of Mr R. H. A. Potter, who was unable to attend, Mr Roland St. Clalr. vice president, occupied the chair. In addition to members of the Association, there was present a number of prospective candidates for the examinations of the Association, to be h->ld in November nest, and others interested in accountancy. The lecturer dealt with' his subject- in a very nblr> and lucid manner, and was most attentively listened to throughout. Some intpresung points were raised during the discussion which followed, and wr re referred to by Mr , Sloman, in acknowledging the vote of thanks accorded him by acclamation. It was announced that the next lecture, entitl -d, "Various Forms of Bookkeeping," by Mr Alex. Grlerson, C.A., will bo delieverrd at the same rooms on Monday, September 12th.
