The manager reports that during the past week driving into the footwall country rock has been- in hand. So far 12ft has been driven, the country penetrated being hard and of a tough description. As there is no indication of another reef being near at hand the manager intends to stop this drive, and start dr"ving on the course of the reef when ore of a good quality is very likely to be obtained. MINERALS, LIMITED. A meeting of shareholders In the Minerals Co., Ltd., was held at Mr R. K. Huiit'B office at 2.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, when there was a good attendance, llr J. M. Chambers presided. He explained that there were liabilities amounting to £111 12/2, and unfortunately the drift that yielded 4dwts per load did not last. The company had therefore to face the problem of whether to go Into liquidation, reconstruct, or issue further shares. If they dropped this property the vendors would take it up again. If they went In for reconstruction It would cost money. The best course seemed to be to issue 2000 shares at par, which it was hoped shareholders would take up in order to cave their money and plve the property another chance. A circular had been issued to shareholders suggesting that 2000 additional shares be issued at 5/, of which 6d should be payable on all«>tment and the balance in calls of 6d per month. They were prepared to give a bonus of £ for £ nut of profits. If the 2<MO shares wore taken up it would give £.".00 with which to put in the tunnel and prospect the property. It was for the meeting to decide whether tt was worth while to po on. Already BSJO shares had been applied for, and another 495 had been promised to be taken up. All the directors had taken up the new shares.

On the motion of Mr Rersley, seconded by Mr Glanister, the meeting decided to npprovp of the sucsestioii in the circular, the directors being duly empowered to issue the 2000 shnres on the terms therein stated, nnd an additional 2000 If more were applied for. Kefore the meeting separated, over 1400 shares had been applied for. fcHA REM ARKET. AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. TO-DAY'B QUOTATIONS.
