THE GOLDFIELDS.

ON 'CHANCE.

The market opened this morning with a strong inquiry for several Thames lines. Kuranui shares again reached 2/ and 2/1, wit.h further buyers at 2/ at the noon call, and Kuranui Caledonians sold from 83 to 1/1, due to the mine adjoining the Cambria section of the New Moanataiari Co.. where good payable ore is being won by the latter company. Ma'hara Royal shares changed hands at 6d and GAd. and New Alburnia at 9d and lOd. Talisman Consolidated shares remained firm at the recent advance, being wanted at 7/0. Waihi Extended shares sold at 7/9, and Waihis were wanted at 118/0. Pride of Vaihi shares -were sold at 1/1 and 1/. and more could have been placed at about the same prices. Coromandel shares did not show an upward movement to-day. Bunker's Hills sold at 2/9, and Old Hauraki Cantribnting at 2/6 and 2/7. Inquiry was also made for Four-in-Hand and Harbour View shares at low figures. Standard lines showed little change in pvices, with tne exception that buyers of Bank of New Zealand shares advanced to 108/ but no selling price was quoted. KURANUI. During the latter part af the weekopera tions in the Kuranui G.M. Company were who'.ly confined to .repairing the old Eureka shaft. To-day opera Jons were resumed upon No. 1 lender and No. 2 reef. NEW ECLIPSE. Progress was somewhat sjow last week in cutting-through the main Eclipse reef at the point where the Vulcan reei junctioned with it. The drive is now fully Bft into the quartz, with no sign of the hangingwall, thus showing that the reef is a strong boay. The ore broken out looks very promising, and the indications generally are in favour of gold being met with at almost any moment. WAIT ALA G.M. COMPANY. ,By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
