LAWN TENNIS.
The New Zealand 'representative lawn tennis team is to leave Wellington for Sydney on September 3, so that the players will have ample time to shake off "the effects of the sea trip, and to get some practice on the Sydney courts before meeting New South Wale 9, on September 16 and 17. The practice will be wanted, as the New Zealand grass courts are said to be slower than those in Sydney. The members of the team are:— H. A. Parker (Wellington). F. Laishley (Wellington), J- Pemcock (Auckland), C. C. Cox (Masterton), J. N. K. Swanston (Wellington), and C. Gore (Wellington). American tennis players seem to have missed an excellent opportunity to regain the Davis International Challenge Cup by not challenging this year, as the two Doherty brothers may not be able to appear for England.
