SUPREME COURT.
CRIMINAL SESSIONS. (Before Mr Justice Edwards.) BOARDING-HOUSE DIFFICULTIES. The Ctourt last evening 'continued the re-trial of Thomas Hennann, a Norwegian, charged with assaulting and stabbing Richard Byrne, husband of an Aratapu boardinghouse-keeper. The prosecutor in his evidence said that after tbe scuffle the accused be came terrified and backed into a corner "like a pig into a rata tree," scream ing out, "If you come near mc I'll murder you." He still held the table knife in bis hand. The defence was that the accused grappled with the prosecutor in self-de-fence, and forgot in the excitement of .he moment that he held a knife and i'ork in hir hands. The jury found the accused guilty, and he was remanded till Monday for sentence.
