MEAT SUPPLY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. According to people connected with the frozen meat industry in Canterbury the state of affairs existing in Otago with regard to the export trade also exist here. Neither at the Christcburcn Meat Company works is there being treated at present anything like the number of carcases dealt with at this period last year, but butchers are said to be finding great difficulty in obtaining fat stock, with the result that at some of the markets they have been buying freezing stocks at higher prices than the companies are prepared to pay. In addition, growers are not selling heavily, and as a consequence of thi3 flocks"will soou show an increase equal to that of the totals of a year or two ago.
