THE GAME SEASON.
(To the Editor.) " The season for shooting native and imported game will open on Sunday, May 1, 1904. ..." Sir, —What have the residents of such districts, as are affected by the above decision of the Acclimatisation Society, done that they should have their Sunday's rest disturbed by a horde cf sportsmen let loose in their midst by the above society's - mandate? And what about the poor country parson and- his congregation, poor also in numbers, to say nothing of the poor ducks? Will not the thoughts of the worshippers be'distracted from the Gospel of Peace by the warlike fusilade waging. without, and the quavering voices raised in the hymn of praise be drowned thereby? Surely the heavens may justly frown on a season openfid so inauspiciously.—l am, etc., RANGIRfKI.
